Bangladesh storm into SAFF U-16 final
Bangladesh beat strong India by 3-1 goals in their second match to confirm their spot of final at the SAFF U-16 Women's Championship held today (Tuesday) at ANFA Complex in Kathmandu, Nepal. With the day's win, Bangladesh reached top of the table with six points and they will play their ultimate league match against Bhutan on Friday (March 8). Four teams are participating in round-robin league system tournament. The top two teams will play the final. With the day's successive victory in the tournament, Bangladesh reached top of the table with six points. Nepal and India have three points each. Bhutan crashed out of the tournament after losing their two matches. The winners' between Nepal and India match will be the partner of Bangladesh in the final which will be held on March 10. If the match produces draw result, then there will be another calculation. Bangladesh-Bhutan match will be held just to maintain a formality on March 8 at the same venue. In the first half of the match, Bangladesh took the lead through a goal by Alpi Akter in the 9th minute. India however staged a brilliant fight back in the match when Anushka Kumari restored the parity with a shot from the right corner of the box in the 55th minute. Bangladesh were desperately looking for a lead again and their best moment came in the 78th minute when Sauravi Akanda Prity scored the second goal with a perfect placing shot from the D-box and Arpita Biswas sealed the victory scoring the third goal for Bangladesh from a goal-mouth melee. Bangladesh make history in SAFF Women’s Championship
Forward Krishna Rani Sarkar scored a brace as Bangladesh set history by winning the maiden title of 6th edition of SAFF Women's Championship beating host Nepal by 3-1 goals in the final held today (Monday) at Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu.     With this win, Bangladesh has also broken five time SAFF champions India's one-sided dominance in the championship who were knocked out early by host Nepal in the semifinal.     It was another stunning performance by the Sabina and Co. in the final following the winning consistency all through the tournament.     Apart from Krishna Rani Sarkar two goals, substitute forward Shamsunnahar Jr supported her with a lone goal to give Bangladesh an early lead and eventually propel Bangladesh to win the SAFF title, breaking the hearts of the Nepalese who appeared their fifth finals since the championship started in 2010.     Bangladesh girls passed the test of strength in title fight of the final. Both teams played enjoyable football throughout the match, but Nepal hardly failed to offer any resistance against Bangladesh in the game and finally Bangladesh created history by claiming the South Asian football's supremacy.     On a rain-soaked ground following heavy rain, substitute Shamsunnahar Jr. put the first blood for Bangladesh in the 14th minute with a superb top off a cross from Monika Chakma, four minutes after coming off the bench to replace experienced forward injured Sirat Jahan Swapna, who was earlier included in the best eleven ending all the speculation.     Bangladesh further went ahead in the 42nd minute. This time Krishna Rani Sarkar brilliantly sent the ball to the net with a perfect left-footed placing shot from inside the box following a through-pass from her skipper Sabina Khatun.     Bangladesh however came under pressure from Nepal after resumption. Bangladesh emerge champions in SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship
A late goal by Anai Mogini helped Bangladesh to win title of SAFF U-19 Women's Championship beating India by a solitary goal in the final held today (Wednesday) at Birshrestha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city's Kamalapur.    It was the Bangladesh-India exciting final match the local crowd enjoyed after a long time. The crowds came to stadium to support the Bangladesh team and the girls also did not disappoint them by retaining the trophy of championship once again.    Bangladesh launched attack in the beginning of the match by creating some scoring chances, but they could not convert any of them.    After the 45 minutes end with the score in read goalless, both the teams tried heart and soul to break the deadlock. At one stage it was seemed the match was heading for extra time, but Bangladesh's best moment came in the 81st minute when Anai Mogini finally broke the deadlock scoring the all-important goal for Bangladesh in the 81st minute with a perfect lofting angular shot from far post.    India however tried their best to stage a fight back in the match but could not convert any in the remaining proceeding.    After the match, Bangladesh team's head coach Golam Robanni Choton in his immediate reaction said he is very happy of the team's result as it was the total hard work of the girls.    He said the girls played good football in the group stage and proved that they are the only contender of the title.    Choton also thanked the Bangladesh Football Federation's (BFF) president Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin, BFF women's wing chairman Mahfuza Akter Kiron, BFF technical director and concern officials for his team's victory.    Shaheda Akter Ripa of Bangladesh emerged as the highest scorer (five goals) of the championship. She was also given the most valuable players award.    State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russel,MP, was the chief guest in the final and distributed the prizes.    BFF and SAFF president Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin and SAFF secretary Anwarul Haque Helal, were among others, present in the prize distribution ceremony.    Bangladesh, earlier in their opening match, shared point with Nepal playing to a goalless draw, thrashed Bhutan by 6-0 goals, managed a solitary goal victory over India and dumped Sri Lanka by 12-0 goals to secure their spot of final.    While Earlier India thrashed Sri Lanka by 5-0 goals in their opening match blanked Bhutan by 3-0 goals but lost to host Bangladesh by a solitary goal while Nepal in their first match, split point with Bangladesh playing out to a goalless draw, thrashed Sri Lanka by 6-0 goals, drubbed Bhutan by 4-0 goals and edged past Nepal by a solitary goal to secure their place of final.  Source: BSS AH

Bangladesh march into SAFF U-18 final
Bangladesh secured a place in the SAAF Under-18 Championship 2019 final after crushing Bhutan by 4-0 goals in the semifinal at APF Stadium in Kathmandu on Friday. They will play the final against India at the same venue on Sunday (Sept 29). The match will kick off at 3:15pm (BdST). India, the Group B champions, defeated Maldives by 4-0 goals at the same venue earlier in the day to book a place in the final. The 3rd place decider between two losing semifinalists – Bhutan and Maldives – will also be held on Sunday at 11:15am (BdST) at the same venue. Bangladesh, the Group B runners-up, dominated the first semifinal from the beginning. Tanbir Hossain, Maraz Hossain, Foysal Ahmed Fahim and Dipok Roy netted one goal each for the team. They took the lead in the 16th minute when defender Tanbir netted the ball with a close range header inside the box, utilizing a long throw in from another defender Kazi Rahad Mia. Bhutan, who reached semifinal as unbeaten Group A champions, responded by attacking football. But Bangladesh doubled the lead from a counter attack when forward Fahim netted the ball from a pass of midfielder Fahim Morshed in the 27th minute. Three minutes later, Bangladesh was denied a goal by Bhutanese goalkeeper Tenzin Dorji. But in the 32nd minute, forward Maraz scored the third goal with a long range shot from outside the box (3-0). Bangladesh missed another close chance to score from a counter-attack in the 36th minute. Bhutan fought back in the second half and their attacking football produced some chances but they failed to utilize them. Bangladesh continued their counter-attacks and got the final success in the stoppage time (90+2 minute) while substitute midfielder Dipok buried the ball with a long-rang left footer shot near the box (4-0). “We’ve executed the plan successfully in the match and [the] boys performed well today against Bhutan,” Bangladesh Head Coach Andrew Peter Turner told a post-match media briefing.
