David Meale to replace Peter Haas as new US envoy

President Joe Biden has nominated David Slayton Meale as the next US ambassador to Bangladesh. The White House confirmed this information in a statement.

The nomination of Slayton Meale has been sent to the Senate for approval, the White House added. Meale is currently deputy chief of mission at the US Embassy in Beijing.

President Biden named David Slayton Meale as the next US ambassador to Bangladesh on Thursday (May 9).

After the hearing in the Senate, if Meale is considered eligible, then the nomination will be finalized and he will be sent to Dhaka as an ambassador.

Meale joined the Foreign Service in 1992 and holds the rank of Minister Counselor. associate dean for the Leadership and Management School at the Foreign Service Institute in Washington, counsellor for economic affairs at the US Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine.
