Two Bangladeshi youths were killed in firing by Indian Border Security Force BSF in Panchagarh.
The incident took place in Ranachandi area of Tetulia upazila on Tuesday (May 7) night.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Tetulia Model Police Station Sujoy Kumar Roy confirmed the matter.
On Wednesday (May 8) morning, they were shot dead by a patrolling team of India's Fakir Para BSF camp in Khoikhatpara Dargasing area near border pillar. It is learned that the deceased Yasin Ali (23) is the son of Ketab Ali of Brahmatol village of Tentulia upazila of the district and Abdul Jalil (24) is the son of Junu Mia of Magura village of Sadar Union of the same upazila. According to local, police and BGB sources, the local people suddenly saw the dead bodies of the youth lying in the Dargasing border area of Ranchandi area of Tentulia upazila on Wednesday morning. Later they informed BGB and police. On the other hand, the Indian BSF took the bodies of those youths to India. It is known that they were trying to enter India illegally by cutting Tarakata to bring cows.

Season's highest temperature 43.8°C recorded in Jessore

Meteorologist Abul Kalam Mallick said that temperature was recorded at 43.7 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga today. The temperature in Dhaka was recorded at 38.6 degrees Celsius.
Jessore, Chuadanga record highest temp at 42.8°C
Severe to very severe heat wave has been sweeping over Chuadanga and Jashore for several days.
The maximum temperature in the two districts was recorded at 42.8 degrees Celsius at 3 pm on Wednesday (May 1).
Earlier on Tuesday (April 30), the highest temperature was recorded at 43.7 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga.
On the same day, the highest temperature of the country was recorded at 43.8 degrees Celsius in Jessore. This is the highest temperature recorded in the country's history since 1973. Earlier, the highest temperature was recorded in Jessore at 43.2 degrees Celsius in 2009.
Severe to very severe heat wave has been sweeping across the country since April 12. Due to the intense heatwave, the administration has advised the public to follow the hygiene rules.
Amirul Azad, officer-in-charge of Khulna Weather Observatory office, said the highest temperature in the country was recorded at 42.8 degrees Celsius at 3pm.
Meanwhile, the intense heatwave that has been going on for the last few days has disrupted the public life of the common people.
Siblings drown in a pond
A 7-year-old girl named Mariam Akhter and her 6-year-old brother named Al-Amin had died while drowning in the pond in Munshiganj Sadar Upazila.
The bodies were recovered from the pond of Dhalibari Government Primary School under Mahakali Union Council on Friday (3 May) evening.
They both are the children of day labourer Noor-E- Alam and they were students of local Al Jamiatul Tara Matia Khaliliya Madrasa. They went out to play in the afternoon, but did not return. The dead bodied of them were recovered from the school pond around 7.30 pm.
Aminul Islam, chief of Sadar Police Station, Munshiganj confirmed the truth of the incident. He said that the police went to the spot after receiving the news. Legal action in this regard is under process.
40 more BGP members again take refuge in Bangladesh
Another 40 members of Myanmar's Border Guard Police (BGP) have taken shelter in Bangladesh through two points of Teknaf border in Cox's Bazar.
14 BGP members entered through Acharbunia border point and 26 BGP members took shelter in Bangladesh through Nazirpara border on Saturday morning (May 4).
According to reliable sources, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) disarmed the BGP members who took shelter in two phases on Saturday morning (May 4). The first 14 of them were kept in Hnila High School by bus. Later, 22 more people were kept in the same place. The BGB is working to disarm the remaining 4.
However, there was no official statement from the BGB in this regard.
Earlier, Bangladesh sent back 288 Myanmar Border Guard Police and army personnel who took shelter in Bangladesh amid the ongoing conflict between the Myanmar security forces and the rebel Arakan Army in the Rakhine state.
Fire breaks out at a hotel in Nilkhet
A fire broke out in two food hotels named Sultani Bhoj and CP Five Star at Nilkhet intersection of the Capital. The fire was brought under control with the help of two fire service units.
The incident happened on Sunday (May 5) around 1.05 AM.
Station Officer of Palashi Fire Station Jihan Rahman Nabil confirmed the fire incident to the media. He said, as soon as he got the information, he came to the spot and brought the fire under control.
He also said that the fire may have started from an electrical short circuit. But there did not find any damage for this fire incident.

DMP commissioner takes special initiative for traffic management
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman has given the most importance to traffic management in the capital.
Under the leadership of DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, the traffic congestion of the metropolis has already come to a tolerable level and the traffic circulation plan has been innovated, the city dwellers can easily travel comfortably. Especially, during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr, traffic congestion in the city was kept under control by deploying special drives and community traffic police on all roads of eight traffic divisions of Dhaka city.
