Fire breaks out at a hotel in Nilkhet
A fire broke out in two food hotels named Sultani Bhoj and CP Five Star at Nilkhet intersection of the Capital. The fire was brought under control with the help of two fire service units.
The incident happened on Sunday (May 5) around 1.05 AM.
Station Officer of Palashi Fire Station Jihan Rahman Nabil confirmed the fire incident to the media. He said, as soon as he got the information, he came to the spot and brought the fire under control.
He also said that the fire may have started from an electrical short circuit. But there did not find any damage for this fire incident.

Season's highest temp in Chuadanga, one dies of heat stroke.
Severe heatwave continues in Chuadanga for a few days. The highest temperature of the country has been recorded in this district for four days. As there is not much difference between day and night temperature, the life of the people in this region has become miserable.
Saturday (20 April) the highest 42.3°C temperature has been recorded in Chuadanga.
According to Metrological office the temperature in Chuadanga is recorded the seasons highest temperature.
Meanwhile, A farmer, named Jakir Hosen, son of Amir Hosen, died of heat stroke while working in the field in Chuadanga.
Jaminur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Chuadanga Meterological office, said that intense heat has been flowing over Chuadanga for the past few days. Today it has turned into 42.3°C which creates very intense heat. There is a chance of rain in Chuadanga.
High Court wants Rohingya voter list
The High Court asked for information about Rohingya voters. Three person including Deputy Comissioner of Cox's Bazar, the Election Commission have been asked to submit this list to the court by June 6. At the same time, 38 Rohingyas have been asked to be removed from the voter list of Eidgah Union of Cox's Bazar.
A High Court bench of justice Naima Haydar and justice Kazi Zeenat Haque passed an order on Wednesday (April 24). The judge issued this order following the writ of local voter Hamidur Rahman.
Supreme Court lawyer Md Siddik Ullah Mia, on behalf of local voter Md Hamidur Rahman, lodged a writ petition with the High Court on Tuesday seeking directives for the exposure of the number of Rohingyas enlisted as voters in Cox's Bazar. Additionally, it called for instructions to exclude them from the voter registry and to halt polling in Eidgaon union until the list is revised.
Advocate Md Siddik Ullah Mia said that 38 Rohingyas have taken National Identity Card (NID) of Bangladesh after being included in the voter list of Eidgaon union.
Truck falls into ditch in Sajek, 6 killed
6 workers were killed and 8 more were injured when a labor truck fell into a ditch at Sajek in Rangamati.
The accident took place at Nobboi Degree area of the Udaipur border road on Wednesday afternoon (April 24).
According to some sources, 14 workers in a dump truck were going to work for the construction of the border road from Khagrachari to Sajek when the vehicle lost control and fell down the mountain slope. 6 people died on the spot, Atulal Chakma, chairman of Sajek Union Parishad confirmed the matter.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Baghaichari Circle) Md. Abdul Awal said that, the police BGB and the army reached to the spot to rescue the injured and the dead.
Three children died in Khilgaon on the same day
In Khilgaon, the death of three children was reported on the same day. Among them, two children died in East Goran. Besides, the hanging body of a domestic worker named Joba Akter Juthi (13) was rescued from the house of an engineer and doctor couple in Banasree.
In the latest incident, engineer Shakil Ul Alam and doctor Noor-e-Jannat have been detained for questioning.
According to police sources, the police went to the spot after receiving a call from emergency number 999 at around 10 pm on Friday (April 26). Later when rescued Joba, they took her to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. After the observation, the duty doctor declared her dead at around 12 midnight.
Earlier, the hanging body of a fifth grade student named Sabiha Jahan (12) was recovered from a house in East Goran area around 8 pm. The girl's cousin Faruque Khan said Sabiha's father Shahjahan Khan is a retired policeman. The girl was later rushed to a local hospital. But when the condition worsened, she was sent to DMC Hospital. Later the doctor on duty declared her dead.
However, her cousin said that he has no idea why a fifth grade girl committed suicide.
Meanwhile, another child named Khadija Akter (5) died while playing on the roof of a five-storey building in the same area on the same day afternoon. In this incident, the girl's uncle Ishaq Mia (20) was seriously injured. This incident occured while they picking mangoes from a tree. Ishaq Mia is now under treatment at DMC Hospital.
Truck-Van crashes in Bagerhat, 3 killed
Three were killed and two others injured when a truck hit an engine-driven rickshaw-van on Khulna-Mongla highway at Rampal in Bagerhat this morning.
Md Saeed Moral (45) died on the spot. Four people including the driver were injured. After rescuing the injured, taking them to the health complex of Rampal upazila, doctors declared two others dead.
The deceased are Md Saeed Moral, son of Rezzak Moral, Md Azad Moral, son of Ekhlas Moral and Mohammad Moni Mallik, son of Maqbul Mallik. All of them were the passengers of the rickshaw-van.
Inspector of Special Branch of Bagerhat District Police, Mohammad Babul Akhter, confirmed the matter.
The Police seized the truck and detained its driver.
Two Kuki-Chin terrorists killed in Bandarban
Two armed terrorists of Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) were shot dead in an army operation in Ruma, Bandarban.
The operation was conducted in the remote Baklai Para area of Ruma Upazila on Sunday (April 28). This information was revealed in a message sent from ISPR.
Earlier on April 22, one armed terrorist of the KNF was killed in an army raid at remote Munlai Para of Ruma upazila in Bandarban. The army personnel recovered arms, ammunition and other equipment during the drive.
Apart from this, 7 guns, 20 rounds of bullets, KNF clothes, laptop used in terrorist activities, two pairs of boots, a knife and various tools were recovered from the detainees.
Chuadanga records season's highest temperature at 43°C
Intense heatwave is sweeping over Chuadanga. The highest temperature in the country has been recorded in Chuadanga, breaking all the records of the season.
The highest temperature recorded in Chuadanga district was 43.0 degrees Celsius at 3 pm on Monday (April 29).
Jaminur Rahman, in-charge of Chuadanga Weather Observatory Centre, confirmed the matter.
He said the highest temperature of the season was recorded at 43 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga today. Such a situation may prevail for the next two days.
Meanwhile, local residents said that Chuadanga has been feeling the heat like a desert since noon. Animals are gasping in the intense heat. Discomfort is increasing in public life.
Workers are suffering the most in the ongoing heatwave. Seasonal crops including paddy, maize, banana, mango, lychee are being destroyed due to the intense heatwave.
