Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud has urged the OIC leaders to bring those responsible for war crimes in Palestine to account.

He made the call while addressing the inaugural session of the 15th OIC Summit in Banjul, Gambia.

Strongly condemning Israel's aggression on the innocent people of Palestine, the Foreign Minister said that the ongoing Israeli aggression in Palestine must be immediately ended, ensuring uninterrupted humanitarian access to the suffered, and Israel responsible for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity must be held accountable.

He also said that the ongoing crisis in Gaza can be resolved by ensuring accountability and punishment of those responsible for war crimes in Palestine.

In his speech, the Foreign Minister underlined Bangabandhu's far-reaching foreign policy and wisdom to establish and develop brotherly relations with the Muslim world. He also highlighted Bangladesh's active role in various initiatives of the OIC since its membership.

Expressing concern over the growing Islamophobia across the world, Hasan urged the OIC to work together with the United Nations, European Union and other international organizations and institutions to eliminate Islamophobia.

The foreign minister also expressed gratitude to the Gambia for filing the Rohingya genocide case against Myanmar at the International Court of Justice and requested the OIC member states to provide necessary financial support for the smooth trial of the case.
