School-goers are getting sick amid Heatwave

Classes started in the classroom from today (April 28) amid severe heat wave. Classes are going on as usual in secondary schools, colleges, madrasas and technical educational institutions. However, parents have expressed dissatisfaction over the opening of schools amid the ongoing heatwave. They said that considering the children, the government could have opened the school at least a week later.

On Sunday (April 28) morning, it was seen at the gates of various schools in the capital that parents were delivering their children along with water and juice. At the same time, he gave various advice to stay healthy in the summer. They also warned not to go out of class in the heatwave, not to play sports in the field or even to run with friends.

Many parents were not in favor of opening educational institutions in the scorching heat. They fear that children may get sick in the heatwave.

Aklima Begum, a parent of Donia A.K School and College, said that she is worried about her child to send school in this heat. After a week or 10 days, the temperature may drop. 'What if I waited a little longer. I don't support it personally' she added.


Umme Kulsum is a third-grade student of Motijheel Ideal School and College. Her classes started at 7 a.m. and ended at 9:40 a.m. At the end of the holiday, this student vomited and became a little sick. The mother who brought him to school became worried.

Not only Umme Kulsum, several students of this school fell sick after coming to school in the intense heatwave. Parents said that they are getting tired while traveling. Teachers said most of the students are not comfortable attending classes. Parents claimed that it is better to close the school or take online classes in this intensity of heat.

Anamika is a Class IV student of Ideal School. His father Mohsin said, 'Adults cannot survive in this heat. It's hard to imagine how kids attend classes there.'
