Metro rail: Dhaka University and Bijoy Sarani stations to open
The Dhaka University and Bijoy Sarani stations of the metro rail service will open for public on December 13.
The duration of services on the Agargaon-Motijheel section will remain the same.
MAN Siddique, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), told reporters of the development about the matter.
PM Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the country's first-ever metro rail on December 28 last year and it was opened to public the following day.

Attacks in hilly areas won't affect tourism in Bandarban: DIG Tourist
Tourist Police Chief Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Md Abu Kalam Siddique has said that incident in Bandarban will not have any impact on the tourist sector of Bangladesh.
He said the reporters after the inauguration of a zonal office in Jamgara area of Ashulia in Savar on Saturday (April 6).
Tourist Police chief said, "Our joint forces are operating in the hill areas. Security measures have also been strengthened. These isolated incidents will not have any impact on the tourist sector of Bangladesh. We have taken adequate security measures on the occasion of Pahela Boishakh celebration."
Over 6 lakh Muslims offer Eid prayers at Gor-E-Shaheed Maidan
Millions of devotees from different parts of the country performed the holy Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the historic Gor-E-Shaheed Eidgah Maidan in Dinajpur with enthusiasm. An atmosphere of amity is created here around the Eid Jamaat.
The Eid congregation was held on Thursday (April 11th) at 9 am with the participation of millions of devotees. Mawlana Shamsul Alam Kashemi led the congregation. After the prayers, a munajat was offered seeking peace of the country, the nation and the Muslim Ummah.
Meanwhile, strong security measures were taken throughout the Eidgah grounds. Police, BGB, RAB, Ansar and volunteers performed the duties in the four-tier security system. Devotees from different parts of the country expressed satisfaction over the smooth and peaceful prayers in flawless security.
Fire at Hazaribagh slum under control
A massive fire broke out in Dhaka's Hazaribagh area. The fire was brought under control around one hour after the fire broke out.
The fire broke out at around 11:50am today (April 12). On information, the fire service rushed to the spot and doused the blaze.
Rozina Akhtar, duty officer of the fire service, confirmed the matter.
Initially, the cause of the fire could not be ascertained. Seven units were sent to the spot after receiving the news. The fire was brought under control by 12:40 pm. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, she added.
Sadarghat launch capsize, accused on 3 day remand
A Dhaka court has placed five people on a three-day remand each in a case filed over the death of five passengers in a launch capsize at Sadarghat.
Naqib, a sub-inspector of Sadarghat thana River Police, pleaded to place the accused before the court and sought a seven-day remand each for "fair investigation" on Friday (April 12).
The accused are Md Abdur Rauf Hawlader, and Md Selim Hawlader, Md Faruk Khan, Md Mizanur Rahman, and Md Moniruzzaman.
On behalf of the accused, lawyers appealed for bail seeking cancellation of the remand. But the bail application was opposed by the state.
Dhaka's Chief Judicial Magistrate, Arifa Chowdhury Himel, placed each of the accused on a three-day remand.
Additional Public Prosecutor Anwarul Kabir Babul confirmed the information.
Meanwhile, joint director of River Securty and Traffic Management, Ismail Hossain, filed the case at South Keraniganj Police Station.
PM highly praised the traffic management of Tejgaon Division

On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina exchanged Eid greetings with members of the Cabinet, Chief Justice, Members of Parliament, diplomats, political leaders and other people from all walks of life at the Ganobhaban on Thursday (April 11).
About five thousand guests came to Ganobhaban on this occasion. PM Sheikh Hasina also exchanged Eid greetings with policemen of Traffic Tejgaon Division and praised Tejgaon Traffic Division for smooth traffic management through tireless efforts of traffic policemen.
She thanked the Traffic Tejgaon Department for ensuring the smooth passage of all the guests arriving at the Ganabhaban.
Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Tejgaon Division, Mostaq Ahmed (promoted to the post of Additional DIG) and under the overall supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Md. Jahangir Alam, AC Mohammadpur Mohammad Imrul and AC traffic tejgaon Snehasish Das are directly working with traffic inspectors, sergeants and other personnels to ensure smooth completion of the movements of all the guests arriving at Ganabhaban.
At least 200 homes burnt in Chattogram’s Firingee Bazar slum
The fire that broke out at the Tekpara and Yakub Nagar slums in Firingi Bazar of Chattogram has been brought under control. The fire has burnt down nearly 200 homes.
The fire service received information about the fire at around 1:20 pm on Monday (April 15). Nine units of fire service brought the fire under control after an hour's effort.
Dinomoni Sharma, deputy director of Chattogram Divisional Fire Service, confirmed the incident.
Local Councillor Murad said that food will be arranged for the affected families who were. Nearly 200 homes have been burnt in that incident.
