No decision yet for lockdown: Health Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said, the coronavirus infections are increasing for not following the health guidelines. Though the infections have increased but there is no plan to impose lockdown in the country at the moment.

Corona infection can be decreased by following health guidelines, he commented.

The minister said this at a program organized on the occasion of international women’s day at Krishibid Institute in the capital on Thursday.

Praising the health sector the Health Minister said, the health sector has been advanced to face the corona pandemic. We are trying to reduce the infection rate and in this regard surveillance is going on.

He said, the government is firm to reduce the corona infection and to reduce it all types of steps have been taken. The government is working tirelessly in this regard.

The minister held people’s indifference responsible for increased infections and said, we can save ourselves from the infection if we follow the health guidelines. But even realizing that we are not following and for that reason the infection is increasing.

Zahid Maleque said, people are not wearing masks in the wedding programs. In the last 15 days around 20 lakh people visited Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban without wearing masks. As a result the infections have increased.

He said, we know how to save ourselves from coronavirus and the treatment. But sensing all we are not following. If corona situation does not remain under control then there will be problems for our economy. So we have to follow the health guidelines.
