A Lalmonirhat-bound train from Dhaka had to return to Kamalapur station as it was overloaded. Then after reducing passengers it again started its journey on Monday afternoon.

The train, Lalmoni Eid Special, was running five and a half hours late when it first left Kamalapur Railway Station at 2:45pm.

But just after going around 200 yards, the train had to return to Kamalapur station as a compartment of the train dropped down due to overload of passengers going home to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha.

One of the guards of the train said that at least one compartment of the train dropped down because of overloading and it was not possible to move forward like that.

Meanwhile, another on duty guard of Lalmoni train said they heard a loud noise and were suspecting one or two more compartments might drop down.

The train again left Kamalapur station around 3:20pm after railway police took down those who were travelling on the rooftop of that compartment.

The train was scheduled to leave Dhaka for Lalmonirhat at 9:15 am Monday but it reached Dhaka around 1:30pm.
