Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to take initiatives for the repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar.

The prime minister made the call when IOM Director General Amy Pope paid a courtesy call on her at her official Ganabhaban residence here this morning (May 7). After the meeting, the Prime Minister's Speech Writer Nazrul Islam briefed reporters.

The Prime Minister said the donation of international partners that were providing assistance to the Rohingyas has decreased considerably. She also called for more fundraising for the Rohingyas.

Referring to the environment of Cox's Bazar, the PM said that the local people have now become a minority in Cox's Bazar. Rohingyas are more numerous. Often there's a conflict over the limited resources.
