Dengue cases breaks all record

Dengue positive cases in Bangladesh reached 102,191, this year as record 2197 fresh cases were reported overnight. Besides nine patients died during the same period as total 485 deaths were reported since January.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said that in a press release on Monday.

According to the experts, August and September are normally considered as peak months for dengue disease but the peak period has extended till November last year.

They predicted that the ongoing dengue outbreak may prolong till November as a large number of Aedes mosquitoes are grown this year while met office forecasts that rainy weather is likely to extend during the months of October and November.

In July 2019, 16,253 patients were admitted to hospitals, according to the DGHS. That tally was already crossed in the first 18 days of July this year.
