Bangabandhu Satellite provided advance info about ‘Fani’: Hanif

Acting general secretary of Awami League Mahbubul Alam Hanif said, taking all out preparation was possible after getting advance information about ‘Fani’ through Bangabandhu Satellite.

He said these to the newsmen while briefing them about party monitoring cell activities about cyclone ‘Fani’ at Awami League president’s political office at Dhanmondi in the capital on Saturday noon.

Hanif said, launching Bangabandhu Satellite into the orbit is a major part of Prime Minister’s development activities. Our Meteorological Department could get information of the cyclone which was created 2 thousand kilometers far on the deep sea, as the satellite was launched.

He claimed that due to the advance information by the satellite it was possible to reduce the damage as all out preparation was taken from the government and party. The Prime Minister is monitoring the situation round the clock. All the government organizations are working in a coordinated way to face damage of the cyclone.

He said, so far 100 calls were made in the Awami League Media cell. Information is being gathered from the affected areas. Our teams will visit the affected sites after ‘Fani’ comes to an end and rehabilitation steps will be taken from the government and party.

Awami League joint general secretary Dr. Dipu Moni, Jahangir Kabir Nanok, organizing secretary Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan, co-office secretary Barrister Biplab Barua among others were present at that time.
