6 coaching centers sealed in capital

The mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has sealed six coaching centers in the capital for remaining the coaching business operational violating the government and High Court orders. Total eight people were jailed and fined from these coaching centers.
The drives led by RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam were conducted in different areas of the capital on Sunday.
RAB found six coaching centers operational while conducting their drives. Those were- MABS and Mobidic at Farmgate and Joyjatra, Naba Diganta, Anonno and Blaze at Jhigatala area. Later the mobile court sealed those coaching centers. Besides, six coaching center were fined.
RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam told Rtv online, drives will go on against the violators of government order who keep the centers open during the ongoing SSC examinations. These coaching centers were doing their business violating the government policy. The concerned persons were cautioned through fining. Strict measures will be taken later.

DU classes to be held virtually amid heatweave
Dhaka University (DU) authorities have decided to hold classes virtually until further notice due to the ongoing heatwave.
The university authorities made the announcement on Thursday (21 April).
According to a press release issued by DU today, the online classes will be held until further notice.
However, the residential halls at the university will remain open, Prof Sitesh Chandra Bachar of DU said.

Sonia to receive PNS-Bipasha Guhathakurata award
Nazrul-sangeet singer Mirajul Jannat Sonia has been nominated as the finalist for PNS-Bipasha Guhathakurta Memorial Award-2024. The award will be officially handed over to the recipient on April 30.

Slow internet, may suffer for a month

Primary schools to reopen across Bangladesh from Sunday
Primary schools across the country will reopen from Sunday (April 28), the day also scheduled for reopening high schools and colleges amid the ongoing heat wave across the country.
This information was given in a notification sent by Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, Senior Information Officer of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on Saturday noon.
According to the notification, the class time has been reduced from 8am to 11:30am. Class activities will continue in government primary schools from April 28.
However, the schools with one shift will complete Class activities from 8:00am to 11:30am. The schools with two shifts will complete Class activities between 8:00am and 9:30 for the first shift and between 9:45am and 11:30am for the second shift.
A notification from the Ministry of Education on Thursday (April 25) said that class activities will continue on Saturdays of every week until further instructions to meet the learning deficit created due to the closure of class activities due to heat wave and other reasons and to achieve learning results according to the new curriculum.
Sohel Atol receives Dhaka Sub Editors Council Literary Award
Journalists' organization Dhaka Sub Editors Council has started the process of awarding literary awards to writers every year.
Journalist and writer Sohel Atol received the literature award in the story-novel category this year. He won this literary award for his biography of singer Asif Akbar "Akbar Fifty Not Out".
The award was announced at the organization's biennial conference at the National Press Club today, April 28. The literary award was announced in the presence of former president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, president of Dhaka Sub Editors Council Mamun Farazi and other leaders of journalist organizations.

This year Dhaka Sub Editors Council Literary Award was given to various writers in children's literature, translation, short stories-novel, and poetry categories. Selina Hossain, the famous novelist of the country, served as the head of the jury board.
School-goers are getting sick amid Heatwave
Classes started in the classroom from today (April 28) amid severe heat wave. Classes are going on as usual in secondary schools, colleges, madrasas and technical educational institutions. However, parents have expressed dissatisfaction over the opening of schools amid the ongoing heatwave. They said that considering the children, the government could have opened the school at least a week later.
On Sunday (April 28) morning, it was seen at the gates of various schools in the capital that parents were delivering their children along with water and juice. At the same time, he gave various advice to stay healthy in the summer. They also warned not to go out of class in the heatwave, not to play sports in the field or even to run with friends.
Many parents were not in favor of opening educational institutions in the scorching heat. They fear that children may get sick in the heatwave.
Aklima Begum, a parent of Donia A.K School and College, said that she is worried about her child to send school in this heat. After a week or 10 days, the temperature may drop. 'What if I waited a little longer. I don't support it personally' she added.
Umme Kulsum is a third-grade student of Motijheel Ideal School and College. Her classes started at 7 a.m. and ended at 9:40 a.m. At the end of the holiday, this student vomited and became a little sick. The mother who brought him to school became worried.
Not only Umme Kulsum, several students of this school fell sick after coming to school in the intense heatwave. Parents said that they are getting tired while traveling. Teachers said most of the students are not comfortable attending classes. Parents claimed that it is better to close the school or take online classes in this intensity of heat.
Anamika is a Class IV student of Ideal School. His father Mohsin said, 'Adults cannot survive in this heat. It's hard to imagine how kids attend classes there.'
