CID off to Manila to recover BB heist money

Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir has said, a representative team of intelligence agency and central bank is going to leave for Manila on Monday night to recover the rest of money that was stolen from Bangladesh Bank reserve.

He said this while declaring the monetary policy statement for the second half (January-June) of the current year at the Jahangir Alam Conference Hall of Bangladesh Bank on Monday.

Fazle Kabir said, 1 crore 45 lakh 40 thousand dollars were brought back from the theft 8 crore 10 lakh dollars. Besides, bringing back of 50 million dollars was under process.

He said, making return of more 12 million dollars from Philippines is at the final stage. Besides there is great development for bringing back more 6 million dollars and a team of CID and Bangladesh Bank is going to Philippines to recover this.

A theft was occurred in the Bangladesh Bank reserve kept in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York trough fake message in February, 2016. Bangladesh managed to recover some of the money already.
