Afsana Khanam Topi was laid to eternal rest beside the grave of her husband Captain Abid Sultan in the Banani military graveyard after Maghrib prayer.

Earlier, her namaj-e-janaza was held in front of the house they lived in Uttara sector 12 in the capital. Later the body was taken to Banani graveyard. On March 19 Captain Abid was also buried here. Afsana passed away just after 10 days of her husband’s death. Pilot Abid succumbed to injuries on 13 March, a day after the deadly plane crash occurred in Nepal.

Afsana died at the National Institute of Neuroscience and Hospital at 9:30 am on Friday. She left her only son Tanzib Bin Sultan Mahi.

Abid was the pilot of the US-Bangla aircraft that crashed in Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport. Afsana became very kittle following sudden death of her husband. At the beginning she was told that Abid was undergoing treatment. When she was informed about the death she could not bear the grief. She was feeling severe pain on the head from last Sunday. She was admitted in a private clinic at first. Later Afsana was shifted to National Institute of Neuroscience and Hospital at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

She was under treatment of a seven member medical team led by the institute director Professor Deen Mohammad.

The physicians said that Afsana’s brain was not functioning normally. She was kept under life support there.
