PM inquires about Dr. Zafar Iqbal at CMH

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid a visit to Professor Mohammed Zafar Iqbal at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka. During the visit the Prime Minister inquired about his health condition.

The premier went to CMH at around 12:20 pm on Monday.

Dr. Zaraf Iqbal, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering department of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) came under a knife attack in Sylhet on Saturday afternoon by a young man named Foyzur Rahman. On bleeding condition he was rescued and rushed to Osmani Medical College Hospital. After admitting there a surgery was done on his head.

Later following Prime Minister’s direction he was brought Dhaka CMH through an Air Force air ambulance.

In a briefing on Sunday the physicians of Dhaka CMH said that there are six knife wounds on the head, back and hand of Professor Zafar Iqbal. He is out of danger at the moment. But he will need several days to recover completely.

Meanwhile, after a mass beating the attacker Foyzur Rahman was handed over to police. Later a case was filed with Jalalabad police station accusing Foyzur and several unidentified. SUST Registrar Ishfaqul Hossain filed the case. The case number is 03.
