Such happens if money for orphans is looted: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said, those who loot money for orphans, burn people to death are punished in such a way. If Khaleda Zia has shame then she will never commit corruption.

She said this at a public gathering organized by Awami League at Bangabandhu Udyan in Barisal on Thursday.

A Dhaka court has awarded five years imprisonment for former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia on Thursday over allegation of embezzling 2 crore 10 lakh taka which came from a foreign source in the name of Zia Orphanage Trust.

In the verdict BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman, former Magura MP Quazi Salimul Haq Kamal, former Principal Secretary Dr. Kamal Uddin Siddique, former President Ziaur Rahman’s nephew Mominur Rahman and businessman Sharfuddin Ahmed was awarded ten years imprisonment each. The judge also fined them 2 crore 10 lakh 71 thousand taka each.

Pointing out Khaleda Zia, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, they have killed over five hundred people by burning. They have done looting and corruption. Where she is now? The throne of Allah gets shaken when one carries repression on people.

She said, those who burnt people to death face such consequence. And that justice is being done.

Sheikh Hasina said, the originators of looting, corruption and militancy and those who loot money of orphans will not be sheltered in the soil of the country.

The Prime Minister said, their reign as government means destruction of the country. Development happens when Awami League comes to power.
