Organs of newborns recovered from dustbin of Barishal medical

Some organs of the dead bodies of newborn babies were recovered from a dustbin of Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

The organs were found in the medical dustbin and drain near the hospital on Monday evening. Later the conservancy worker recovered the bodies. Most of the recovered bodies were premature.

In this regard Director of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital Dr. Bakir Hossain said, the recovered organs of premature babies were preserved in the bottles of gynae department laboratory. Many mothers give birth to premature babies. Sometimes the family members took those and somebody left away. The left bodies of premature babies were used in the practical classes for third and fifth year medical students. When asked to remove those, the nurses without sensing left those in the dustbin and nearby drain.

He also said, there is rule to bury the dead bodies underground but those were thrown away in the dustbin by mistake. The bodies will be buried.

Officer in Charge of Kotwali police station Nurul Islam said, police members were sent to the spot. Efforts are going on to recover the bodies.
