Those are plastic rice!

Rony Mia, an inhabitant of Gaibandha town bought six kgs rice from the shop of Ruban Dewan at Natun Bazar on Sunday. He was suspicious as the rice after cooking was not tasty to eat. Later on Monday when he tried to fry that rice it turned into curled. This made him more suspicious. Later Rony Mia went to sadar police station along with the rice. He alleged that those rice were made of plastic.

After getting the complain sadar police station Officer in Charge informed the matter to Upazila Nirbahi Officer Uttam Kumar Roy. Later a mobile team was formed.

The mobile team on Monday conducted a drive at Ruban Dewan’s shop and seized one and half sack of rice over suspicion of artificial plastic rice.

Of the seized rice 15 kgs were sent to the central office of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection in Dhaka for testing.

At that time the mobile team conducted drives at some other shops. District Consumer Rights Protection Directorate Assistant Director Masum Ali was present at that time.

In this regard sadar police station Officer in Charge Khan Md. Shahriar told Rtv online that the sample rice was sent to Dhaka for testing. Legal action will be taken after getting the test report.

Rice trader Ruban Dewan told Rtv online, I am selling the rice in the market after collecting those from Dholnanga area under Palashbari upazila. Many are eating this variety of rice but nobody complained. Rony Mia made allegation with the police station. Police have collected the rice for testing.
