Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to inaugurate 'Hangsabalaka' at noon

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate Boeing's 787-8 Dreamliner 'Hangsabalaka' at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Wednesday noon.

After inauguration, the premier will look around the aircraft.

Hangsabalaka, the second dreamliner of the national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines, reached Dhaka on Saturday night after flying around 16 hours non-stop from Seattle, USA.

With this one, the number of Dreamliner of Biman Bangladesh Airlines is two while the number of aircrafts in Biman fleet reaches 15.

The Biman got the first of their Dreamliner Boeing 787-8, known as Akashbeena, on August 19.

The commercial operation of the aircraft will begin on December 10.

Six flights of the aircraft will be operated on Dhaka-London route, four on Dhaka-Dammam route and three on Dhaka-Bangkok route in a week.

In 2008, Biman Bangladesh Airlines signed a US$2.1 billion agreement with Boeing to purchase 10 new aircrafts.

Of these, Boeing has already delivered six 777-300ER’s and two 737-800’s and one Dreamliner to Biman.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has named all four Dreamliners in advance.

The passengers of the Dreamliner, which has 271 seats, with 247 economy and 24 business class slots, will get wi-fi facility at the altitude of 43,000 feet.

The 787 Dreamliner is Boeing’s most fuel-efficient and environment-friendly aircraft as it consumes about 20 per cent less fuel compared to other aircraft.
