Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate Boeing's 787-8 Dreamliner 'Hangsabalaka' at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Wednesday noon.

After inauguration, the premier will look around the aircraft.

Hangsabalaka, the second dreamliner of the national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines, reached Dhaka on Saturday night after flying around 16 hours non-stop from Seattle, USA.

With this one, the number of Dreamliner of Biman Bangladesh Airlines is two while the number of aircrafts in Biman fleet reaches 15.

The Biman got the first of their Dreamliner Boeing 787-8, known as Akashbeena, on August 19.

The commercial operation of the aircraft will begin on December 10.

Six flights of the aircraft will be operated on Dhaka-London route, four on Dhaka-Dammam route and three on Dhaka-Bangkok route in a week.

In 2008, Biman Bangladesh Airlines signed a US$2.1 billion agreement with Boeing to purchase 10 new aircrafts.

Of these, Boeing has already delivered six 777-300ER’s and two 737-800’s and one Dreamliner to Biman.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has named all four Dreamliners in advance.

The passengers of the Dreamliner, which has 271 seats, with 247 economy and 24 business class slots, will get wi-fi facility at the altitude of 43,000 feet.

The 787 Dreamliner is Boeing’s most fuel-efficient and environment-friendly aircraft as it consumes about 20 per cent less fuel compared to other aircraft.

Truck-Van crashes in Bagerhat, 3 killed

Three were killed and two others injured when a truck hit an engine-driven rickshaw-van on Khulna-Mongla highway at Rampal in Bagerhat this morning. Md Saeed Moral (45) died on the spot. Two armed terrorists of Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) were shot dead in an army operation in Ruma, Bandarban. The operation was conducted in the remote Baklai Para area of Ruma Upazila on Sunday (April 28). This information was revealed in a message sent from ISPR. Earlier on April 22, one armed terrorist of the KNF was killed in an army raid at remote Munlai Para of Ruma upazila in Bandarban. The army personnel recovered arms, ammunition and other equipment during the drive. Apart from this, 7 guns, 20 rounds of bullets, KNF clothes, laptop used in terrorist activities, two pairs of boots, a knife and various tools were recovered from the detainees.

Chuadanga records season's highest temperature at 43°C

Siblings drown in a pond

A 7-year-old girl named Mariam Akhter and her 6-year-old brother named Al-Amin had died while drowning in the pond in Munshiganj Sadar Upazila. The bodies were recovered from the pond of Dhalibari Government Primary School under Mahakali Union Council on Friday (3 May) evening. They both are the children of day labourer Noor-E- Alam and they were students of local Al Jamiatul Tara Matia Khaliliya Madrasa. They went out to play in the afternoon, but did not return. The dead bodied of them were recovered from the school pond around 7.30 pm. Aminul Islam, chief of Sadar Police Station, Munshiganj confirmed the truth of the incident. He said that the police went to the spot after receiving the news. Legal action in this regard is under process.

40 more BGP members again take refuge in Bangladesh

Another 40 members of Myanmar's Border Guard Police (BGP) have taken shelter in Bangladesh through two points of Teknaf border in Cox's Bazar. 14 BGP members entered through Acharbunia border point and 26 BGP members took shelter in Bangladesh through Nazirpara border on Saturday morning (May 4).
