2 killed by train while playing mobile game on railway track
Two school students have been killed after being hit by a train while playing 'Free Fire' on their mobile phones while sitting on the railway track in Jamalpur.
The accident occurred at the Bottola Bazar area of the Dumuth Union at around 1.30pm on Monday (Jan 22), said Raju Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Melandah Police Station.
The identities of the victims were not known yet.
The OC said that two of them died on the spot after being hit by a Dewanganj-bound commuter train.
However, it is believed that they could not hear the train coming because they were wearing earphones.
The OC said that the bodies of the victims were taken to the police station.

First consignment of Indian onions arrives
The first consignment of 1,650 tonnes of onion from India has arrived on Sunday (March 31) through the Darshana land port in Bangladesh.
Mirza Quamrul Hasan, manager of Darshana International land port, said the first consignment of onions imported by Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has been received at around 5:30 pm.
The loaded wagons will be unloaded at night and taken to Sirajganj bazar. The imported onions it will be sold at Tk 40 per kg in Dhaka and Chattogram markets.
Fire breaks out in several parked buses in Dhaka's Demra
A fire broke out in the garage of a Volvo bus in the capital's Demra area. Six units of fire service are working to control the fire.
The fire service received information about the fire at 8:50 pm on Monday (April 1).
Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of Fire Service's media cell confirmed the information. He said the fire service left for Konapara area of Dharmakpara in Demra at 8:59 pm after receiving the news of the bus fire. Two units of Demra Fire Station are working to control the fire and four units from Siddique Bazar have left.
14 buses gutted in fire in Dhaka's Demra
At least 14 Volvo buses were gutted in a fire at a garage in the capital's Demra.
The incident took place at Konapara on Monday night. Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of Fire Service's media cell confirmed that around 8:45pm Fire Service brought the blaze under control.
The burnt buses belonged to a transport company named London Express. The fire was brought under control after an hour's effort.
Five units of fire service brought the fire under control. No casualties were reported in the fire.
Two banks robbed in 15 hours in Bandarban
Robbers looted Sonali Bank's Ruma branch in Bandarban last night. They also kidnaped the bank manager Nizam Uddin.
Meanwhile, Two branches of Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank have been attacked in Thanchi of Bandarban today (3 April), about 15 hours after Sonali Bank's Ruma branch was attacked by armed robbers yesterday.
The incident took place around 12:30pm on Wednesday (March 3), said Thanchi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jasim Uddin.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said in a press briefing that members of the militant outfit Kuki Chin are involved in the bank robberies in Bandarban.
The Kuki Chin robbers has looted around Tk2.5 lakh from Krishi Bank's Thanchi branch, according to Thanchi branch manager Hlaswithwai Marma.
On the other hand the robbers took Tk15 lakh from the Sonali Bank's Thanchi branch, according to Deputy General Manager Md Osman Ghani of the bank.
However, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Police are carrying out operations to capture the culprits.
For security measures, transactions at six branches of Sonali Bank in Bandarban have been halted until the situation is under control.
Fire breaks out at Khulna jute mill
A fire breaks out at a jute mill of Salam Jute Mills in Khulna's Rupsha. Eighteen units of fire service are working to to control the blaze.
Earlier on Wednesday (April 3), the fire broke out around 5:30pm at the jute mill owned by Salam Jute Mill, said Md Abdul Quadir of the Khulna Fire Service control room.
MMA Salam, proprietor of Salam Jute Mill claimed that there has been damage of around Tk100 crore.
Assistant Director of Khulna Fire Service and Civil Defence Md Faruk Hossain Sikdar said the fire service trying their best to douse the fire.
Kohinur Jahan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Rupsha Upazila said the fire service is working to control the fire. The Navy's fire team is also working. The intensity of the fire is very high, it may take time to control the fire.
Terrorist attack on Alikadam checkpoint
Terrorists attacked a joint check post of police and army at the Dim Pahar area under Alikadam police station in Bandarban. The attack took place at around 1:00am Friday (5 April).
There is panic among the locals. The people of Thanchi are spending sleepless nights in thought.
Alikadam Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tabidur Rahman said the media at night that the terrorists attacked at the Dim Pahar area by breaking through the joint checkpost by driving a vehicle.
Meanwhile, the police and army personnel who were present at the checkpost fired at them and a gunfight ensued for a while but no one was injured in the incident.
Earlier, an hour-long gunfight took place between police and BGB with Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) terrorists in Thanchi. The shooting started at 8:30 pm on Thursday (April 4) and stopped at 9:30 pm.
2 killed as train hits truck in Feni
Two people were died in a collision between running train and a truck in Purbo Fazilpur Muhuriganj Bridge in Feni.
The accident took place on Friday (April 5) morning. Gateman Md Saiful went missing soon after the accident.
Among the deceased, one was the driver and the other was helper of the truck.
Police and witnesses said the accident happened around 8:30 at the rail gate adjacent to the East Fazilpur Muhuriganj Bridge in Feni Sadar Upazila. The Chattogram-bound mail train hit the truck while crossing the trail track as the gateman failed to place the bar despite the arrival of the train. Later, the railway authorities removed the truck and the bodies lying on the railway track.
