2 killed as mortar shell fired from Myanmar in Bangladesh
Two people have been killed so far after a mortar shell fired by Myanmar which exploded on the Ghumdum border in Bandarban.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon in Ghumdhum Union’s Jolpaitahi area, said Shah Mujahid Uddin, Deputy Commissioner.Bandarban.
The dead were identified 55-year-old Hosne Ara Begum, who is a local resident, and a Rohingya woman who is a maid.
At least 95 members of Myanmar's BGP have fled to Bangladesh with weapons to save their lives from the conflict. BGP members started taking refuge in Bangladesh to save their lives from last Sunday morning.
BGP members who took refuge in Bangladesh will be taken back by Myanmar Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud said. Discussions have already started on this matter, he added.
