Boat capsize: 22 bodies recovered, handed over to relatives

The dead bodies of the passengers were handed over to the relatives who were killed in an accident between a passenger laden trawler and a bulk head at Laiskabeel in Brahmanbaria district on Friday. Deputy Commissioner of the district Hayat Ud Dowla Khan handed over the dead bodies to the relatives from 250-bed Brahmanbaria General Hospital. High officials of the local administration including Police Super Anisur Rahman were present at that time.

The Deputy Commissioner said, the dead bodies were handed over to the relatives after identification. At that time taka 20,000 was disbursed among the relatives as carrying cost for the dead bodies.

According to the fire service information, 21 dead bodies were recovered till 11 pm last night and one more dead body was recovered in the morning. But the trawler could not be salvaged yet.

On Friday afternoon the trawler carrying around 120 people capsized at the Laiskabeel whict was heading towards Brahmanbaria town from Champak Nagar under Bijoy Nagar upazila. The accident occurred when two sand laden bulk head collided with the boat.
