Inter-district bus terminals to be relocated from capital: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said, inter-district bus terminals to be relocated from Dhaka metropolitan area after taking alternative measures. With a view to relocate the terminals the other works like land allotment will be completed within short period.

He said these at a meeting organized at DTCA conference room of Dhaka South City Corporation on Sunday.

Obaidul Quader said, a set of initiatives were taken to free the footpaths from grabbers, to evict illegal establishments and to free roads from battery-run vehicles. But the initiatives were halted due to dengue outbreak. Now City Corporation is going to resume the task. Overnight change is not possible but it will be done by phases.

He said, battery-run easy-bikes are creating traffic jam in the capital. Concerned offices including BRTA have been directed to remove those from the roads. An action plan will be formulated to undertake plans of short, medium and long term and to implement those.

The minister gave the directions to concerned city corporations and police at the 13th meeting of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA).

Mayors of Dhaka North, South, Narayanganj, Gazipur City Corporations, DMP Commissioner, RAJUK Chairman and Mayors of different municipalities were present at that time.
