Passenger bus plunges into ditch in Peru

At least 25 have been killed and 20 others were after a bus plunged into a 650-foot deep ravine in the South American country of Peru. News agency AFP reported this information on Tuesday (April 30).

Immediately after the accident, 23 people were reported to dead, but this information was later updated to 25.

Municipal official Jaime Herrera said that the bus carrying more than 50 passengers, plunged into a river and some of the passengers washed away.

After rescuing the injured from the accident, they were being sent to the hospital.

According to AFP, bus accidents are very common in Peru. Accidents occurs frequently, especially at night and on mountain highways. In addition; high speeds, poor road conditions, lack of road signs, and poor enforcementof traffic rules often cause such accidents on Peruvian roads.
