Eleventh national election will be peaceful: DG of RAB

Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Benazir Ahmed said, eleventh national parliament election will be peaceful. Voters will exercise their voting rights in peaceful manner, without any hassle and form the new government.

He said these at the annual general meeting of Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) at Segun Bagicha in the capital on Friday.

Benazir Ahmed said, national parliament election will be held after one week. In the election voters will vote for their chosen candidates and will form the government. In election we along with the journalists will work together like the past.

He said, though crime has reduced but new types of crimes are taking place. Crime Reporters can uphold those. Financial and cyber crimes are increasing. Lies and propaganda are being spread.

The RAB DG said, the police force of today is not the police force of 20 years ago. Many changes have come. Crime Reporters are the most influential in media arena. Crime Reporters are called the heart of media. There is relation between poverty and crime. Crimes have reduced as poverty is reduced.

He also said, earlier there were personal relations between journalists and police officials. Breaking that we have begun the work of establishing professional relations.

AIG of police headquarters Sohel Rana delivered speech in the program. CRAB president Abu Saleh Akon delivered concluding speech. CRAB general secretary Sarwar Alam moderated the program.

MAX Group chairman engineer Alamgir Hossain, RAB ADG (Ops) Colonel Jahangir Alam and ADG (Admin) Jamil Ahmed were present as the special guests in the program.
