Cyclone Remal: Danger signal number 7 for Mongla, Payra

The deep depression in the Bay of Bengal has turned into a severe cyclonic storm 'Remal'. As a result, the warning signal has been increased on four seaports of the country. Maritime ports of Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist danger signal number 7, while Chattogram and Cox's Bazar seaports have been asked to hoist danger signal number 6.

On Saturday (May 25) night, Tariful Newaz Kabir, the meteorologist of the meteorological department confirmed the matter.

Md. Tariful Newaz said, "The deep depression turned into a cyclone 'Remal' around 6 pm. Maritime ports of Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted danger signal number seven. Besides, Chattogram and Cox's Bazar have been asked to display danger signal number 6. ’

The cyclone was located 365 km from Payra seaport, 405 km from Mongla, 400 km from Cox's Bazar seaport and 455 km from Chattogram seaport at 6 pm.

Meanwhile, rains have started in different coastal places including Barisal, Bhola, Pirojpur since evening after the formation of the cyclone. Under the influence of Remal, rain is falling in several areas of the capital. Rain was reported in Badda, Vatara, Baridhara, Gulshan-2, Banani and Shyamoli areas since 8pm on Saturday.

In addition, winds with gusty winds are blowing in different areas.
