Bangladesh claim historic World Cup win over Aussies

Bangladesh faced Australia in the first match of the ICC U-19 Women's T20 World Cup. The Under-19 women's team took the victory convincingly.

Bangladesh Under-19 women's team reached the target of 131 runs given by Australia with 13 balls in hand.

Australia Under-19 Women's team won the toss and batted first at Benoni, South Africa. At the beginning, Both openers of Australia Under-19 team departed within 22 runs in just 3.3 overs.

Disha Biswas took both the wickets. But Australia overcame from that shock in the third wicket pair. And even though they could not take wickets, Bangladesh bowlers kept the momentum by doing economical bowling.

Australia's third wicket down at 98 runs in 16.4 overs. Rabeya Khan broke the third wicket pair of 76 runs. She hunted down Claire Moore who scored a half-century. Moore scored 52 runs off 51 balls. Marufa Akter got a pair of wickets in the next over. Australia collected 102 runs after losing five wickets in 18 overs.

In the last two overs, Australia added 28 runs in their scoreboard. Australia U-19 women's team scored total 130 runs in the scheduled 20 overs.

Bangladesh Under-19 women's team lost their first wicket on the very first ball. Misty Shaha made a Golden Duck. However, Afia Prottasha and Dilara Akter pair kept the team on the way to victory. Dilara continued to score runs with the ball and was accompanied by Afia.

Bangladesh collected 66 runs losing one wicket in the first 10 overs. Tigresses needed 65 runs in the last 10 overs to win the match. However, in the 11th over of the Bangladesh batting innings, there was a bit of a struggle. The second wicket fell on 66 runs. Dilara departed after scoring 40 runs off 42 balls. Afia departed in the same over. She scored 24 runs off 22 balls.

However, Shorna Akter and Sumaiya Akter ensured the victory of Bangladesh. Shorna scored 13 runs off 15 balls to accompany Sumaiya. And Sumaiya played a stormy innings. A brilliant innings of 41 runs off just 27 balls came from his bat. Sumaiya hit six fours and a six. As a result, Bangladesh won by seven wickets and 13 balls in hand.
