Mahmudullah captain, Apu replaces Shakib

Like the test series Mahmudullah Riyad is going to be debuted in the T-20 series against Sri Lanka. In the last match of Tri-nation series Shakib got hurt in his finger and missed batting in the final. He missed the test series. Later Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced T-20 team keeping him captain as well.

But at last test and T-20 captain Shakib was excluded from the team as he was not fully recovered from his injury.

BCB confirmed the matter on Tuesday. The team leadership was given to Mahmudullah. Besides Nazmul Islam Apu has replaced Shakib in the coming series scheduled to be started from February 15.

Apu was rewarded for his performance in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He performed a great role for Rangpur Riders for the championship. He got 12 wickets in 10 matches. Average was 16.33.

BCB declared the T-20 team giving priority the performers of BPL. Earlier 5 uncapped players were named for Bangladesh team. With Apu the number reached at 6. That means at least two players are going to be debuted in the series against Sri Lanka.

Mahmudullah Riyad (capt) ,Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Abu Hider, Abu Jayed, Ariful Haque, Mahedi Hasan, Zakir Hasan, Afif Hossain and Nazmul Islam Apu.
