Recently, following the dissemination of a modified version of actress Apu Biswas' conversation with Gaan Bangla Chairperson Farzana Munny on a 'controversial matter,' false information proliferated both in local media and on various social media platforms. Apu Biswas shared a video on her social media platform containing inaccurate information regarding the personal lives of Farzana Munny and her husband Gaan Bangla Television Managing Director Kaushik Hossain Taposh.  Consequently, on December 17, Taposh filed a complaint at the DB office of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.  In connection with this complaint, Apu Biswas was called to the DB office on December 19. DB Head Harun-or-Rashid and Taposh were present at this time. Later, when facing the media, Apu Biswas acknowledged her error and stated that she would rectify it by removing the video she had posted on social media.

The incumbent Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Barrister Fazle Nur Taposh has filed two defamation cases against ex-mayor Sayeed Khokon for delivering defamatory remarks regarding corruption. The cases were filed with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury on Monday (January 11). Kazi Anisur Rahman and Advocate Md. Sarwar Alam are the plaintiffs of the cases. Earlier in the morning while inspecting the waste removal activities from different box culverts at Kamalapur and Sayedabad areas Mayor Taposh warned about filing case against Sayeed Khokon. Informing that the ongoing drive of DSCC will continue Fazle Nur Taposh said, those who transacted money in different ways are alleging about corruption. This type of allegation is personal attack, I think. The box culvert cleaning activities were stopped for long period. Most of the machines that we have got from WASA are out of order. City dwellers will get a good result before the coming rainy season. The Mayor on Sunday said to the newsmen, what the former mayor said centering me bears no importance. It is his personal opinion. Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Thursday urged all concerned to enforce a stricter lockdown in Wari of the capital.   He made the call at the second review meeting of the central committee for Wari lockdown implementation at Nagar Bhaban this afternoon.   Wari was put under a 21-day lockdown on July 4 as the health authorities marked the area as a ‘Red Zone’ due to the high Covid-19 infection rate.   Regarding the stricter lockdown, Taposh gave some specific guidelines and asked all concerned to abide by those.   He said the infection rate among the residents at the beginning of lockdown and the present rate of infection is almost same which is not acceptable. He said residents of the houses having COVID-19 patients won’t be allowed to step out of their residences.   The e-commerce platforms will have to issue a list of service providers.   Besides, all government and private offices, including the office of Pacific Pharmaceuticals Ltd, of the area will remain shut, he said, adding that one of the three super shops of the area can remain open.     He requested all to maintain the recommended health guidelines and sought cooperation to implement the directives.   Tipu Sultan Road, Jahangir Road, Dhaka-Sylhet Highway (Joykali Temple to Baldha Garden) in outer road and Lalmini road, Hare road, War road, Rankin Street and Nawab St in inner Wari are now under the restrictive measure.   The lockdown is scheduled to end on July 25. Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Wednesday said that no more garbage and waste would be allowed on roads and open places. Garbage collectors will now collect garbage from house-to-house from six o'clock in the evening in every wards. All waste will be transferred to this Intermediate Waste Transfer Center (STS) by 10 pm (night). From STS, the waste will be taken to Matuail waste disposal site from 10pm, said Taposh. So, there will be no more waste on open places and roads, he said while laying the foundation stone of Islamabad STS under ward number 29 of the city this morning. Taposh said, "We have already rearranged our waste management activities." Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has taken charge as the Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). The Mayor took over the charge from DSCC Chief Executive Officer Abdul Hye at the Nagar Bhaban in the capital on Saturday. DSCC Public Relations Officer Uttam Kumar Roy said, after taking the charge the newly elected Mayor briefed the newsmen through online. Earlier, Bangladesh Awami League nominated candidate Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh was elected Mayor of DSCC unofficially in the election held on February 1 this year.   AH

The newly elected Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said that attention will be paid so that no evil force can turn Dhaka city immoveable. He declared the election manifesto formally at a press conference at Awami League central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Wednesday. He mentioned five plans in the election manifesto. Of those there are- Dhaka of the heritage, moveable Dhaka, beautiful Dhaka, well administered Dhaka and developed Dhaka. Awami League nominated mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation election Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said, all the canals and water bodies will be made free from the illegal grabbers to overcome the waterlogging problem in the city, if I am elected mayor. At that time Barrister Taposh said, there are a number of canals in old Dhaka that are grabbed by the illegal grabbers. Water Development Board could not make those canals free from them.
