People’s concept about service of police has changed. Service of police is being reached at the door steps of people. After filling general diary and case 95 per cent people have expressed their satisfactions, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Shafiqul Islam. He said this in DMP’s monthly crime review meeting at Rajarbag Police Lines on Sunday. The DMP Commissioner said, phone calls were made from the DMP headquarters to the service seekers about how much service the people get after filing GD or case in the police stations. Questions were made about the quality of service of police. 95 per cent people have expressed their satisfactions. It has to be maintained by police. While going for investigation police members have to refrain from unprofessional attitude. Police members have to use the modern technologies at best they can. Shafiqul Islam said, high power CC cameras have to be installed in important places to prevent vehicle and motorcycle theft in the districts and upazilas including the capital. Besides CC cameras have to be installed at the entry point of the flyovers. Using software like Crime Data Management System (CDMS) and Suspect Identification and Verification System (SIVS) the list of the criminals should be prepared and they should be brought under law. The DMP Commissioner emphasized on creating consciousness against women repression and rape. High DMP officials including Additional Police Commissioner, Joint Police Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner were present in the meeting. AH   

In the country 53.5 percent voters think that the upcoming eleventh national parliament election will be fair and impartial. Besides, 68.3 percent educated young voters are satisfied with the leadership of incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The information was delivered at a press conference at the Reporters Unity on Saturday based on the result publication of a research and survey on young voters conducted by research institution Call Ready.  Australian immigrant researcher Dr. Abul Hasnath Milton said at the press conference, in the country of the total voters 10 percent are young voters. Of them 68.3 percent young voters are satisfied with the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 30.2 percent voters want change and 18.5 percent voters have not taken any decision yet. He said, the research survey was conducted among 1 thousand 186 student voters aged between 18 to 24 years in 21 educational institutions of 12 districts in the country including 10 educational institutions in the capital like Dhaka University. Total 21 focus groups conducted the survey and research in the educational institutions from October 22 to 30. It was said in the press conference that the research and survey was conducted by the research team members over questions on 18 different subjects. AH    

Election Commission (EC) Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said, Khulna City Corporation (KCC) election is a local government election. Everybody’s attention is on this election. We are satisfied over the election so far conducted. The EC Secretary said these to the newsmen at Election Commission office on Tuesday. He said, voting suspended in the three centers out of 289 centers under KCC and voting took place in 286 centers in a peaceful manner. Helaluddin said, we appointed 35 election observers during the election, through their telephones and other sources we are aware that peaceful voting took place in al the centers except three. The irregularities and sealed ballot papers that were shown in the media are from those three centers. In response to the allegation of irregularities by BNP he said, a party can make allegation. We are looking into the matter through our officials. Vote casting took place in a fair and modest way. The allegation of forcing out BNP polling agents will be investigated. Law enforcing agencies, magistrates and our officials solved the problems on spot where irregularities took place. The EC Secretary said, voting took place through Electronic Voting Machines in two centers of the 286. Result of those two centers has also come. Vote counting is going on in the rest centers. AH
