We are satisfied over election so far: EC Secretary

Election Commission (EC) Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said, Khulna City Corporation (KCC) election is a local government election. Everybody’s attention is on this election. We are satisfied over the election so far conducted.
The EC Secretary said these to the newsmen at Election Commission office on Tuesday.
He said, voting suspended in the three centers out of 289 centers under KCC and voting took place in 286 centers in a peaceful manner.
Helaluddin said, we appointed 35 election observers during the election, through their telephones and other sources we are aware that peaceful voting took place in al the centers except three. The irregularities and sealed ballot papers that were shown in the media are from those three centers.
In response to the allegation of irregularities by BNP he said, a party can make allegation. We are looking into the matter through our officials. Vote casting took place in a fair and modest way. The allegation of forcing out BNP polling agents will be investigated. Law enforcing agencies, magistrates and our officials solved the problems on spot where irregularities took place.
The EC Secretary said, voting took place through Electronic Voting Machines in two centers of the 286. Result of those two centers has also come. Vote counting is going on in the rest centers.

More than 2m SIM card holders left the capital in 2 days
More than 20 lakh mobile phone SIM holders have left the capital in the last two days. This information has been found in the sources of mobile phone operators.
Each SIM card has a code known as an IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) which uniquely identifies the SIM card itself. SIM holders are meant to be different people (unique user). They may be accompanied by elderly men, women and children, who do not use cell phones. As a result, it is difficult to get an estimate of how many people have actually left Dhaka.
According to some sources, more than 20 lakh mobile SIM holders left Dhaka on April 6 and 7. At this time, more than 9.5 lakh SIM holders have entered Dhaka from different districts.
Moon not sighted, Eid on Thursday
The moon of the holy month of Shawwal was not sighted in the sky of the country. As a result, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Bangladesh on Thursday (April 11).
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting committee on Tuesday (April 9) evening.
Eid-ul-Fitr "festival of breaking the fast" will be celebrated in Saudi Arabia and other European countries on Wednesday (April 10) as the moon of the holy month of Shawwal was not sighted in the Middle East on Monday (April 8).
Meanwhile, the holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in different districts of Bangladesh on Wednesday (April 10) in conformity with Saudi Arabia.
Metro Rail to remain closed for 2 days during Eid
Metro rail services will be closed for two during Eid-ul-Fitr. As a result, the metro rail movement will be closed for two consecutive days on the occasion of Eid. The day after Eid al-Fitr is Friday. That day is the weekly holiday of Metro rail.

Moon sighted, Eid on Thursday
Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across Bangladesh on Thursday (April 11) as the moon of Shawwal has been sighted in the sky of the country.
Earlier, the meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee was held at 6.30 pm at the conference room of the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. Religious affairs minister and National Moon Sighting Committee President Md Faridul Haque Khan presided the meeting.
As the moon of Shawwal month was not sighted in the country on Tuesday, the 30th Ramadan ended on Wednesday. As a result, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Bangladesh on Thursday (April 11).
5 killed in launch accident at Sadarghat Launch Terminal
At least Five people were killed when the anchor rope of a passenger launch severed and hit them at Sadarghat terminal in the capital.
The incident took place on Thursday afternoon (April 11) at around 3:15 pm. Joynul Abedin, director of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) confirmed the matter.
The deceased include a woman, three men and a child.
According to sources, five passengers were seriously injured after the anchor of Tasrif 4 broke into pieces and hit some of the people around, injuring them. Five of them died.
Temperature exceeded 40°C, no respite from heatwave in five days
The temperature in the country has exceeded 40 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature recorded today was 40.2 degrees Celsius in Patuakhali's Khepupara upazila.
Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik, Meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department confirmed this information on Monday (April 15) afternoon.
The country's highest temperature was recorded in Rangamati at 40 degree Celsius on Sunday (14 April).
He said the highest temperature recorded today was 40.2 degrees Celsius at Khepupara. In Khepupara, the temperature has increased by 1.2 degrees Celsius in a span of one day. Khepupara recorded a maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The maximum temperature in Rangamati on Sunday was 40 degrees Celsius.
He also said that the temperature in the capital Dhaka has also increased today. The maximum temperature in Dhaka was recorded at 37.6 degrees Celsius today. Which was 37.5 degrees Celsius yesterday.
According to the BMD, Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may rise slightly over the country in the next 24 hours from 9:00am today.
Train fares set to rise from May 4
Bangladesh Railway has withdrawn rebate on fares for passengers traveling more than 100 kilometers from May 4. As a result, all types of train fares are increasing.
According to Bangladesh Railway officials, it gives about 20-30 percent rebate for travelling over 100km.
Director General of Bangladesh Railway Sardar Sahadat Ali, confirmed the information to the media on Monday (April 22).
'The costs of train passengers travelling over 100 kilometres are likely to rise from May 4, as Bangladesh Railway will not provide the existing rebate facility from that day,' said Sahadat Ali.
Train fares will be adjusted by withdrawing the the rebate from May 4, he said. However, in response to a question about the rate at which the train fare is increasing, the DG said it will be fixed the commercial branch of the railway.
