Nepal: 4 projects built with India's financial assistance handed over to Dailekh local govt
Four high-impact community development projects (HICDPs) constructed with financial assistance from the Government of India have been handed over to the local government concerned in Dailekh district on July 3. The project includes the building of three school buildings of Shree Malika Higher Secondary School, Lalikanda; Shree Bhairav Secondary School, Badabhairav; Shree Jagadish Secondary School, Badakhola and one Campus building of Shree Narayan Campus, Rampur, in Dailekh with financial assistance of NRs 108.60 million from the Indian government, the Indian embassy in Nepal said in an official release on Monday. The project comes under 'Nepal-India Development Cooperation' and was formally handed over by Prashant Kumar, Sona, SS (DP), Embassy of India and Namraj Shahi, Chief, District Coordination Committee (DCC), Dailekh. Under an agreement between India and Nepal, these projects were taken up as High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) which will help the students in the area by providing them with quality educational infrastructure and will create a suitable environment for good quality education in Dailekh District, as per the official release. Moreover, all these school and campus building projects were implemented through DCC Dailekh. The ceremony was attended by Mr Top Bahadur BC Chairman of Gurans Rural Municipality, Mr Ganesh Bahadur Thapa Chairman of Bhagawatimai Rural Municipality, Ms Manju Kumari Sharma (Pandey), Acting Chairman of Mahabu Rural Municipality and Mr Loman Sharma, Mayor, Narayan Municipality. However, social workers, political representatives, officials of the Nepal Government and local community leaders were also present on the occasion. "India has taken up over 544 HICDPs in Nepal and has completed 480 projects since 2003. Amongst these, 14 projects are in Karnali Pradesh of which 4 projects are in Dailekh," according to the release. In addition, on the occasion of Independence Day and Republic Day, India has gifted 940 ambulances and 184 school buses to various hospitals, health posts and educational institutions in Nepal. Amongst these, till date, six ambulances have been provided to the Dailekh district, the release added. Furthermore, these projects reflect India's development partnership with Nepal and complement the effort of the Government of Nepal in elevating infrastructure in the field of education.

Bodies of crash victims handed over to relatives after janaza
The second namaz-e-janaza of 23 US-Bangla aircraft victims was held at Army Stadium after Asr prayer. Imam of Army central mosque Maulana Mohammad Mahmudul Haque administered the janaza. The first janaza was held in Nepal earlier. Tributes were paid to the dead bodies after the janaza. Names were called during hand over of the dead bodies. Relatives burst into tears during the handover procedures. The process concluded at 5:50 pm. Earlier the 19 freezing ambulances carrying the 23 dead bodies left Shahjalal International Airport at 4:50 pm. Those reached at the Army Stadium at 5 pm. A cargo aircraft of Bangladesh Air force carrying the 23 dead bodies landed at the VVIP terminal-1 of the Shahjalal Airport at 3:55 pm on Monday. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader formally received the bodies. Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Shahjahan Kamal was present at the moment. After holding janaza, Secretary of President’s office on behalf of President, Road Transport and Bridges Minister on behalf of Prime Minister and Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad paid tribute. Later the bodies were handed over to the relatives. Of the 23 identified dead bodies there are: Umme Salma, Ankhi Moni, Begum Nurunnahar, Sharmin Akhtar, Nazia Afrin, FH Priyok, Bilkis Ara, Akhtara Begum, Md Rakibul Hasan, Md Hasan Imam, Minhaz Bin Nasir, Tamara Priyonmoyee, Md Matiur Rahman, SM Mahmudur Rahman, Tahara Tanvin Shashi Reza, Aniruddha Zaman, Rafiq Uz Zaman, Pilot Abid Sultan, Co-pilot Prithula Rashid, Khwaja Saifullah, Foysal, Sanjida and Nuruzzaman. After identifying through DNA tests the dead bodies of rest three- Alifuzzaman, Pias Roy and Nazrul Islam, they will be brought to the country. On March 12 the flight BS-211 of US-Bangla Airlines that flew from Dhaka crashed in the Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport. Of the 71 passengers including 4 crews of the flight there were 32 Bangladeshis, 33 Nepalese, one Maldivian and one Chinese. Of them 37 were males, 28 females and two children. Of them 51 people including 26 Bangladeshis died in the accident. AH

List of 8032 Rohingyas handed over: Home Minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said, to send back Rohingyas a list containing eight thousand 32 people was handed over to the Myanmar representative team. He said this to the newsmen after holding home minister level meeting between Bangladesh and Myanmar at the secretariat on Friday. The Home Minister said, Myanmar government is sincere to take back Rohingyas. They have assured of taking the Rohingyas back after ensuring their living place, means of income and security. They will take back the Rohingyas according to the list they were given in the first phase. But before the process they will verify the list. He said, the meeting held with cordial manner. They have informed about the erected camps and how the people would be rehabilitated. Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, at present six thousand Rohingyas are waiting to enter in Bangladesh from the no man’s land. We have told them that the people are still on their border. Take measures to take them back. Myanmar proposed to hold a meeting on February 20 to discuss about the matter. The procedures to take these six thousand people will be fixed in the meeting. The visiting Home Minister of Myanmar Lieutenant General Kyaw Swe and his representative team, from Bangladesh Public Safety Division Secretary Mostafa Kamal Uddin, Security Services Division Secretary Farid Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Inspector General of Police Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwary and representatives from foreign ministry, BGB and concerned offices were present in the meeting. Accountant caught red handed with bribe money
Chief Assistant cum Accountant Md. Ashraful Islam Pathan of Narsingdi district 100 bed hospital was caught red handed while taking bribe money which he took for proving tender. The incident happened at his office in the hospital at around 3 pm on Tuesday. An associate of Ashraful Islam Pathan was also arrested in this connection. His name was Rezaul Karim. He was the Medical Technologist of the hospital. An eight member special team of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) under supervision of Divisional Director Nasim Anwar and led by Deputy Director of Integrate District Office Dhaka 2 Mohammad Morshed Alam arrested them. ACC sources said, Ashraful Islam Pathan demanded two and half lakh taka bribe to Md. Nasir Mia for providing tender in return. Ashraful received one lakh 30 thousand taka earlier and today was the date fixed for giving one lakh taka more. Nasir Mia complained about the matter on ACC Hotline-106. After legal procedures ACC formed a special team to arrest the bribe receiver. The team members led by Mohammad Morshed Alam took their position around the hospital from the afternoon. At around 3 pm Ashraful Islam Pathan was caught red handed while taking one lakh taka bribe money. At that time Rezaul Karim was also arrested for assisting the bribery process and attempt for hiding the money. ACC Assistant Director Md. Fazlul Bari filed a case in the Narsingdi Sadar police station in this connection. AH/ MK
