BNP standing committee member Selima Rahman has commented saying that after assuming in state power Awami League strangled the democracy to death. People cannot speak freely. Bangladesh has turned immovable caused by misrule and famine.

She said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on the occasion of 30th death anniversary of Shaheed Dr. Shamsul Alam Khan Milon held at the Jatiya Press Club on Friday.

Selima Rahman said, famine is knocking at the door of the country. Prices of commodities are sky-rocketing, general people cannot eat properly, thousands of youths are jobless. But they (the government) are sleeping without tension.

She said, BNP leaders and activists will re-establish democracy in the country through struggle. To establish democracy in the country Zia family played role from the field level. Ziaur Rahman fought the liberation war from the front position. Under uncompromised leadership of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia the party is leading the anti autocratic movement. Zia family is the symbol of democracy.
