Former Eden principal murder: Two housemaids get death

The special tribunal has ordered death sentence for housemaids Swapna and Reshma in connection with former Eden Mohila College principal Mahfuza Chowdhury Parvin murder case.

Judge of the Dhaka speedy trial tribunal-1 Abu Jafar Md. Kamruzzaman delivered the verdict on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier, the two housemaids were produced before the court.

On September 30, after completion of arguments presentation by the lawyers of state and accused, the court fixed the date for delivering verdict on October 4.

Mentionable, on February 10, 2019 police recovered the dead body of Mahfuza Chowdhury Parvin from her home at Elephant Road in the capital.

In this connection Ismat Kadir Gama, husband of Mahfuza Chowdhury filed a case. Police then arrested housemaids Rita Akter alias Swapna and Ruma alias Reshma and also housemaid providing agent Runu Begum. Swapna and Reshma later delivered confessional statement.

Mahfuza Chowdhury served the post of principal in Eden College from 2009 to 2012.
