Thirty first night: RAB on helicopter patrol

The preparation to celebrate the thirty first night is going on throughout the country including Dhaka. To maintain the law and order unimpeded in the New Year all out security measures have been taken. To beef up the security RAB is patrolling with helicopter for the first time in the capital.

RAB was seen patrolling on helicopter using the search light at Gulshan area at around 8 pm on Sunday.

Acting Director General of RAB Colonel Anwar Latif Khan said, the helicopter patrol will continue throughout the night. Surveillance will go on through search light from upper.

He said, RAB members were deployed in all the important areas in the capital including Gulshan, Banani, Dhaka University and Uttara. In these areas security force is patrolling with helicopter using search light. Through this light everything can be seen clearly on the ground though there is fog.

He further said, plain cloth and uniformed RAB members are deployed this time. Dog squads are working in the check posts. Every measure has been taken to maintain law and order.

Earlier on Sunday at a prize distribution ceremony at Kabadi stadium IGP AKM Shahidul Hoque said, some restrictions were imposed in the thirty first night considering the security of people. Legal action will be taken if anybody violates the restrictions.

Shahidul Hoque said, diplomatic and posh areas including some specific areas of the city have been brought under special surveillance. Same measures were taken in the Dhaka University area. People gather in these places. City dwellers can celebrate the night peacefully if they abide by the restrictions.
