So far three people have been reported dead in an explosion in a three-storey building in the capital's Science Lab area. The deceased are Shafiquzzaman, Abdul Mannan and Tushar. Dhanmondi Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ikram Ali Mia confirmed the matter. Earlier, on Sunday at 10:50 am the explosion occurred. The building partially collapsed and caught fire. The fire was brought under control with the efforts of four units of the fire service. Meanwhile, 13 people were injured in the incident and are receiving treatment in the hospital.  Khaleda Yasmin, the officer in charge of the control room of the fire service and civil defense, told, "On Sunday morning, the fire broke out in the building due to an explosion."
