Battery Dance Company performs in Dhaka

The internationally reputed New York based dance troupe ‘Battery Dance Company’ presented its performance titled ‘Dancing for Peace and Tolerance’ in Dhaka on April 7 and 8 at the Shilpakala Academy and EMK center.

Performing as a bridge of cultural diplomacy the Battery Dance Company offered an event where audience witnessed a celebration of peace between dancers of different cultures, backgrounds and beliefs – which resembles harmony through diversity.

Based on different episodes imbued with relationship in between different countries where no complexity and conflict would exist, the show created relationship among people.

To make the program bilateral between USA and Bangladesh Shadhona Cultural Circle, one of the most prominent cultural organizations in Bangladesh as well in the sub-continent, was included in the event. Artistes of Shadhona Dance Company, under the artistic direction of Lubna Marium, presented a performance titled ‘Ultraviolet’.

The show resembles the deeper the sorrows curbs into human being the more joy we can contain. In this turbulence sea of nothing, it is the under current that carries us all.

The program organized by US embassy in Dhaka and supported by US State Department. Bangladesh’s reputed private television channel Rtv was the broadcasting partner of the event.

To be noted, Battery Dance Company performs on the world’s stages, teaches, presents, and advocates for the field of dance. The Company is dedicated to the pursuit of artistic excellence and the availability of the Arts to everyone. An integral part of the fabric of New York City for 41 years, Battery supports the creative process; educates children in the New York City schools; enriches the general public through local programs and performances, national and international tours, and international arts exchange programs over 62 countries of the world.

Based in Lower Manhattan, Battery Dance has produced over one hundred original dance works choreographed by its founder and artistic director Jonathan Hollander, in collaboration with a diverse array of composers and designers, and its cast of outstanding dancers.
