Taylor Swift deepfakes spark calls for US legislation

US politicians have called for new laws to criminalise the creation of deepfake images, after explicit faked photos of Taylor Swift were viewed millions of times online.
The images were posted on social media sites, including X and Telegram.
US Representative Joe Morelle called the spread of the pictures "appalling".
In a statement, X said it was "actively removing" the images and taking "appropriate actions" against the accounts involved in spreading them.
It added: "We're closely monitoring the situation to ensure that any further violations are immediately addressed, and the content is removed."
While many of the images appear to have been removed at the time of publication, one photo of Swift was viewed a reported 47 million times before being taken down.
Deepfakes use artificial intelligence (AI) to make a video of someone by manipulating their face or body. A study in 2023 found that there has been a 550% rise in the creation of doctored images since 2019, fuelled by the emergence of AI.
There are currently no federal laws against the sharing or creation of deepfake images, though there have been moves at state level to tackle the issue.
In the UK, the sharing of deepfake pornography became illegal as part of its Online Saftey Act in 2023.

Everyone thinks that, when we get old, we do not get any role except the character of parents. That's why I am away from the movie. If the story is good and heart-touching, the audience will definitely see me again in the cinema." The actress added.
Incidentally, Babita was last seen in Nargis Akhter's 'Putro Ekhon Poishawala' movie.
However, she assured that if she gets chance to play any central role in a movie in future, she will surely act in it.
Paper Rhyme vocalist Saad is no more
Ahmed Saad, the lead vocalist of the country's popular band Paper Rhyme, has passed away at the age of 52 after a prolonged battle with cancer. He died at a private hospital in the capital on Tuesday night (April 23) around 12 o'clock.
It is known that Saad was suffering from cancer for a long time. He had a heart attack three days ago and admitted to United Hospital. He suffered another heart attack on Tuesday morning. Later the attending physician declared him dead.
The news of the singer's death was confirmed by his school friend and Paper Rhyme band member Anindya Kabir Abhik. He said, 'Saad was suffering from cancer for several years. Sometimes he recovered a bit but a few months ago, cancer spread throughout his body.'
The funeral of Saad is expected to take place on Thursday (April 25), but the matter will be finalised from his family.
In the 90s, the band Paper Rhyme captured the hearts of listeners by releasing only one album. The band was well known for their unique lyrics and compositions in genres such as hard, melodic, and soft rock. Their songs like "Andhokar Ghore", "Akasher Ki Rong", and "Elomelo" became particularly top favorite songs of the audience.
In 1996, the band Paper Rhyme's first album was released under the banner of Soundtek. Basically, the band was formed by some school friends on January 24, 1992. Its lineup consisted of Saad on vocals, Rashed on guitar, Nasir on keyboards, Sumon on beige guitar, and Abhik on drums.

He further added, 'I used to think that it would be really weird to walk naked on the set. We are not used to it. I used to feel anxious about how I would do it. Everyone was watching. I was feeling very embarrassed. When I came on the set, I just wanted to work, and my shot was getting messed up. So I told Rajkumar, 'These are unimportant things. What’s the big deal if you see me naked? We need to get the shot.' I didn’t feel embarrassed at that time. I was also shocked that I did it.'

Accused in attacking Salman Khan's house firing commits suicide
The Mumbai Police recently arrested two people accused of firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's house.
According to the Mumbai police, Anuj Thapan was seen with serious injuries and was immediately taken to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon (May 1).
A Times of India report says, one of the accused, Anuj Thapan, tried to commit suicide in police custody on Wednesday (May 1) afternoon. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. On April 14, Thapan was accused of supplying the weapon used in the firing outside the Bollywood actor Salman’s Galaxy Apartments.
Apart from this, three more accused named Vicky Gupta (24), Sagar Pal (21), Sonu Kumar Chander Bishnoi (37) were arrested in connection with this case. who were accused of firing outside Salman's house, are in police custody.
They were arrested after they were caught on CCTV footage while leaving the area on a motorcycle on the night of the incident.
