Hatred for You, Shame on You: Khairul Bashar
The 76th death anniversary of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the father of Pakistan was observed at the National Press Club in the capital. Questions have been raised about that event. The general public erupted, throwing various questions on social media.
Actor Khairul Bashar expressed his distaste for celebrating Ali Jinnah's birthday. In a Facebook status, he wrote, 'Hatred for you'. After 71, it would be better if Allah took you. We didn't have to see this day. You also didn't have to live with grief.'
Then he wrote in a comment in the comment room, "The best crazy people in independent Bangladesh! Someone's speech came on the timeline through a news portal, I skipped it while listening. They continue to say 'East Bengal' even not to mention the name Bangladesh. Surprising! There are some young people with those old people! Jinnah gave them Pakistan, and in this happiness, they died of pride! Pakistan will give their place? May Allah guide them to leave Bangladesh.
Incidentally, Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a Gujarati-born lawyer, politician, and founder of Pakistan. He was the leader of the Jinnah Nikhil Bharat Muslim League from 1913 until the independence of Pakistan on 14 August 1947. He became the first Governor General of Pakistan after independence and held the post for a lifetime.
Matin Rahman Elects as 'Oscar Bangladesh Committee' Chairman
Like every year, Bangladeshi movies are being sent to the Oscar's International Feature Film (Foreign Language Competition) category this year too.
For that, a 7-member 'Oscar Bangladesh Committee' has been formed with director Matin Rahman as the chairman for movie nominations.
Films selected from Dhaka will go to the 97th Oscars through this committee. For this reason, the committee is inviting Bangladeshi films for nomination. Otherwise, there is no way to send movies directly to the Oscars.
According to Matin Rahman's committee, the first condition is that the film should be released after 1 November 2023 and before 30 September 2024. During this period, the movie should be shown commercially for 7 consecutive days in the theaters of Bangladesh. Any full-length film with English subtitles can participate in the selection process.
Film producers interested in participating in this selection process are requested to collect the movie submission form and detailed rules from Ashirbad Films (7/9 Eastern Commercial Complex, 73 Kakrail) and submit it by 5 pm on September 21. 97th Oscar Bangladesh Committee Media Coordinator Robin Shams makes this request.
The 97th Academy Awards will be held on March 2, 2025, organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The award will be given to 24 branches at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California. Best International Feature Film Award is one of them.

'GOAT' At The Worldwide Box Office in 10 Days
Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest Of All Time Worldwide picked up massively yesterday, crossing 375 crores gross at the worldwide box office.
The Greatest Of All Time, also known as The GOAT, continues to keep its strong grip intact, and on the second Saturday, it witnessed a big jump. Backed by strong support in Tamil Nadu and the overseas market, the magnum opus crossed the mark of 375 crores yesterday, and now, it is on its way to being the next entrant of the 400 crore club at the worldwide box office. Apart from that, it’ll soon topple Kamal Haasan’s Vikram.
Despite mixed reviews, Thalapathy Vijay’s second-last film is fetching impressive numbers, and it seems that it won’t stop anytime soon. On the second Friday, it did a business of 7 crores in India, and yesterday, it registered a massive jump of 85.71% to earn 13 crores, with Tamil Nadu providing the major chunk of business. With this, the magnum opus entered the 200 crore club in India, becoming Vijay’s second film after Leo to achieve the feat.
In India, after 10 days, The Greatest Of All Time stands at a whopping 202.45 crores net. Including taxes, it equals 238.89 crores gross. In overseas, it has amassed an estimated 141 crores gross. So, after combining the Indian and overseas gross, the worldwide box office collection stands at 379.89 crores gross. From here, it’ll take a couple of more days to make a smashing entry into the 400 crore club globally.
With 379.89 crores gross, The Greatest Of All Time has now got a new mission of hunting down Kamal Haasan’s highest-grossing film, Vikram. Released in 2022, Vikram was a blockbuster and had amassed 426 crores gross globally. So, The GOAT is just 46.11 crores away from Vikram.
Meanwhile, The GOAT is already Thalapathy Vijay‘s second highest-grossing film after Leo (607.66 crores gross). In its lifetime run, it’ll stay in the same position and is expected to wrap up below the 500 crore mark.

Thalapathy Vijay Becomes India's Highest Paid Actor
It's not Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Prabhas, or even Rajinikanth. The most "expensive" star in Indian cinema right now is none other than southern sensation Thalapathy Vijay.
According to Indian media, Vijay is set to receive a staggering taka 275 crores for his upcoming film, 'Thalapathy 69,' which is also rumored to be his final film. This makes him the highest-paid actor in India at present.
Vijay has been a dominant figure in the South Indian film industry for years and enjoys immense popularity across India. His recent films have consistently smashed box office records, often crossing the 100 crore taka mark with ease.
Audiences have loved him in blockbuster hits like 'Mersal,' 'Thuppakki,' 'Master,' and most recently, 'Leo.' At 49, Vijay is known not only for his acting but also for his incredible dance skills, which have endeared him to millions of fans. However, despite his successful career, Vijay is now making moves towards a political career.
Earlier this year, Vijay announced the launch of his political party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, just as India geared up for the Lok Sabha elections. His aim is to contest in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections.
According to sources close to Vijay, he is actively working on expanding his political presence, not just in Tamil Nadu but also in neighboring states like Kerala and Karnataka, capitalizing on his large fan base.
As his political commitments grow, it's reported that Vijay may gradually step away from the silver screen to focus fully on his political career. This is why there is a huge buzz surrounding his final film, and it’s speculated that his enormous fee for 'Thalapathy 69' reflects the significance of his potential farewell to cinema.
