Metro rail to be launched in golden jubilee of independence

Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited MAN Siddique said, metro rail will be launched in capital Dhaka on December 16 of 2021. The metro rail service will be opened to all formally in the year of golden jubilee of country’s independence.

He said these while holding conversation with newsmen at Metro Rail site office at Agargaon in the capital on Wednesday.

MAN Siddique said, the journey of the first project out of six phases of Metro Rail project will begin from December, 2021.

He also said that the first phase works (Uttara to Agargaon) of Metro Rail will complete in December 2019 and the second phase (Agargaon to Motijheel) works will complete in December 2020.

The Mass Transit Company officer also said, bringing accessories sets of metro rail will begin from abroad on June 15, 2020. After arrival of those equipments the metro rail will be run on experimental basis. After that metro rail journey will be inaugurated from a specific day formally.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was present there at that time. Upholding six phases of metro rail he said, the traffic jam in the capital will be removed if journey of metro rail project begins, that is not. For that we have to wait until 2030.
