Drug dealer arrested with 30 thousand pieces of Yaba

A team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Intelligence-Lalbagh Division arrested 3 drug dealers along with 30 thousand pieces of Yaba from the capital's Hatirjheel Police Station and Turag Police Station area.

The arrested person's are: Md. Yasin, Md. Ali Hossain and Md. Habibullah. After the arrest, 30,000 pieces of Yaba were seized from them.

Muhammad Moniruzzaman, assistant police commissioner, told, "After raiding Hatirjheel Turag police station area, we arrested them on Friday, January 13.

He said that some drug traffickers are bringing Yaba along with the Biswa Ijtema passengers from Chattogram to Dhaka through a Hanif Paribahan bus. Based on such information, a team of detective police took position in front of Bata shoe outlet in Chowdhury Para area of Hatirjheel police station. When the bus was actually barricaded with a police microbus, Yasin and Ali were arrested while fleeing from the bus. Later, the bus was searched and 30,000 pieces of Yaba were seized.

According to the information provided by those arrested in another operation on the same day, other accomplice Habibullah was arrested in Kamarpara area of Turag police station.

"Based on the information obtained during the initial interrogation that the arrested persons admitted that they used to collect Yaba from the border area of Cox's Bazar district and sell it in the adjacent areas including Dhaka city.

At Hatirjheel police station, a case has been filed those arrested in the incident.
