Two bombs neutralized in Dhaka shopping mall

Police have neutralized two bombs reportedly planted by a young man at a shopping mall in Dhaka’s Badda area.

According to witnesses, the young man fled after placing a bag on the staircase of Tanha Plaza at the Gudaraghat on Gulshan-Badda Link Road around 12pm on Monday. Before fleeing, he told people at the scene that there were bombs in the bag.

On being informed, a bomb disposal unit of the police visited the scene and found two Improvised Explosive Devices or IEDs.

Police said that they first thought it was a prank, but the bomb disposal unit later confirmed there were indeed bombs in that bag.The IEDs were neutralized at the scene around 5pm.

Police also said they would check CCTV camera footage of the area to identify the man who had planted the bombs.
