Lawmaker Papul gets four years jail in Kuwait

A Kuwaiti court has awarded four years rigorous imprisonment to Bangladeshi Member of Parliament Kazi Shahidul Islam Papul over the allegations of human trafficking and money laundering. Besides the independent MP from Laxmipur-2 constituency has been fined 19 lakh KD equivalent to 53 crore 19 lakh 62 thousand taka.

A Kuwaiti criminal court delivered the verdict against the Bangladeshi lawmaker on Thursday. The information came through court and diplomatic sources in the evening. The Judge of the Kuwaiti criminal court also awarded four years rigorous imprisonment and 19 lakh KD fines for the sacked Kuwaiti home ministry officer Maj Gen Majen Al Jarah. The influential General helped the Bangladeshi lawmaker to run business in Kuwait unethically.
