Woman hacked to death by addict youth, 4 injured

A drug addict youth has sporadically hacked at least five persons at Akbarshah area in Chattogram. A woman named Sandha Rani was killed in the incident. The other four people were seriously injured. Police have detained the youth named Satyajith in connection with the incident.

The incident took place at around 7:45 pm on Friday at Uttar Kattali Barakali Bari area under Akbar Shah police station.

The deceased Sandha Rani was wife of late Dhirendra Chandra in the area. The injured are- Shanti Nandi, Dipak Dutt, Tinku Dutt, and Prabir Talukder.

Confirming the incident Officer in Charge of Akbarshah police station Md. Jasim Uddin said, Satyajith has a pharmacy in the area. After taking excess of liquor and being out of control he sporadically hacked five persons with a sharp weapon. Critically injured Sandha Rani was taken to the hospital but the duty physicians declared her dead. The rest four were admitted to hospital.
