Principal’s niece Popy gives confession in Nusrat murder

Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa principal’s niece Umme Sultana Popy has delivered confessional statement before the court in connection with killing Nusrat Jahan Rafi by setting afire.

Popy delivered her statement before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Sharaf Uddin under section 164. The statement taking process took place from 4 pm to 9 pm on Friday.

Besides the court has granted three days remand for first information report listed accused Zabed Hossain.

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Chattogram divisional Special SP Md. Iqbal told the media, Umme Sultana Popy confessed before the court that she was directly involved in the incident. On the day of the incident Popy called Nusrat to the roof of the madrasa and took part in the killing mission.

Earlier four people delivered confessional statement acknowledging their involvement in the Nusrat killing incident. They were- accused Nur Uddin, Shahadat Hossain Shamim, Abdur Rahim Sharif and Hafez Abdul Kader. PBI so far has arrested 18 people in connection with the case. Of them all the eight of first information report listed accused were arrested.

Nusrat Jahan Rafi died on April 10 while undergoing treatment at the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. She was laid to eternal rest on the following day at her native village at Char Chandia after performing autopsy.
