3 killed in Rangpur road crash

Three motorcycle riders, including a woman, were killed in a road crash in Rangpur's Pirganj upazila on Thursday evening.

The incident took place on the Dhaka-Rangpur Highway in Bishmail area around 6pm, locals said.

The deceased were identified as Shahinur Rahman of Hariram Shahapur village, Mushfiqur Rahman and Rumi Akhter of Pirganj upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Pirganj Police Station Saras Chandra told RTV Online that a bus of Hanif Paribahan hit a motorbike in the area coming from Pirojganj upazila, leaving three motorcycle riders, including a woman, dead on the spot.

Local people blocked traffic on the busy highway for two hours in protest of the accident.

Later, the administration intervened in the incident and the vehicular movement came to normalcy.
