Threat to blow up Nirbachan Bhaban

Senior officers of Election Commission including its Commissioners and Secretary are in threat centering the eleventh national parliament election. Threats are being given by sending short messages through mobile phones to the senior officers. They are getting such messages for the last several days.

EC Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed confirmed the matter to Rtv online on Friday night. He said, I am informed about the matter. For this reason four tier security measures have been taken from today.

The message sent from the number 01880908730 said- Allahu Akbar. Stop this illegal (kufri) election or be prepared for dangerous consequences by the mujahedins. We are ready to blow up the Election Commission at any moment. Insha Ahhalh @ Mujahedins.

Meanwhile Election Commission officers said, panic is prevailing among many people following the threat. So Election Commission has asked law enforcement agencies to take appropriate measures.

The Election Commission and Commission secretariat are situated at Agargaon in the capital. It is the first incident of threatening to blow up the Election Commission. Earlier in the tenth general election cocktails were hurled at the EC premises and the homes of the Election Commissioners.

Mentionable, the eleventh national parliament election will be held on December 30. Total 39 registered political parties are taking part in the election. Arch rivals Awami League and BNP are going to face each other after 10 years. Both the parties are contesting under alliances. More than 1800 candidates are contesting in the election. Of them around 50 are independent candidates and the rest are candidates of different political parties.

More than 6 lakh 8 thousand members of different forces like army, BGB, RAB and police were deployed for the security of peaceful voting.
