6 buses set on fire mysteriously in Dhaka

Six buses were mysteriously set on fire nearly around same time in the capital including Gulistan, Secretariat and Shahbag area on Thursday. It is yet unclear whether somebody set those on fire or the incident of fire occurred due to technical glitch.

The mysterious fire occurred on a bus of Rajanigandha Paribahan on the road adjacent to the secretariat, at Gulistan on a bus of Victor Paribahan and at Shahbag on a bus of Dewan Paribahan.

Rozina Akter, Duty Officer of Fire Service headquarters confirmed the information and said, the news of setting fire on a bus in front of Awami League office came at around 1:30 pm. Then after sometimes the news of setting fire on a bus came from Shahbag area. A unit of firefighters rushed to the spot in front of Aziz Super Market. At 2:10 pm another news of setting fire on a bust at the secretariat intersection came to the fire service and a unit rushed to the spot to douse that.

Md. Walid Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police media and public relations division said, we have information of setting fire on buses in different parts of the capital. We immediately do not know how the fire occurred. Police at the respective spots are investigating the incidents.
