No bus service in capital without ticket system: Mayor

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon said, all the ticket counters of transport services will be installed on the same places so that road spaces are not grabbed. No passenger can move on the public transport without ticket in the capital.

The DSCC Mayor informed about the decision at a press conference held at Nagar Bhaban in the capital on Monday.

He said, no public transport will be allowed to ply without ticket in the capital. The new system will be introduced after Eid.

Sayeed Khokon said, we have taken decision in the route rationalization committee meeting that no passenger will be allowed to move on public transport without ticket in Dhaka city. This step will make the existing bus crisis and passengers’ sufferings to an end. So plans will be taken after visiting the field level situation to take necessary steps to set up ticket counters and ticketing system after coordination between DTC, BRTA, BRTC, DSCC, DNCC and transport owners.

He said, direction has been given to the concerned authorities so that the system can be made effective just after Eid. But all the ticket counters will be set up in the same place to avoid road space grabbing.

The DSCC Mayor said, we also decided in the meeting that circular bus service will start at Uttara from May 27 which was already started in Dhanmondi area.

Sayeed Khokon also said that circular bus service will also start in Motijheel and Sadarghat areas.
